Description

EGI

(European Grid Infrastructure)

The  EGI enables access to computing resources for European researchers from all fields of science, from High Energy Physics to Humanities.

EMI

(European Middleware Initiative)

The EMI is a unified, standardized, easy to install, software for distributed computing infrastructure.

EUDAT

(European Data Infrastructure)

The EUDAT was launched to target a pan-European solution to the challenge of data proliferation in Europe's scientific and research communities. Aiming to contribute to the production of a Collaborative Data Infrastructure (CDI) driven by researchers' needs, the project is coordinated by CSC - IT Center for Science, Finland, and comprises 25 European partners, including data centers, technology providers, and research communities and funding agencies from 13 countries

EUIndiaGrid

The vision of a worldwide Grid for Research is embraced by both Europe and India and responds to the need for scientific collaborations in a networked world to address grand global challenges. This forms the basis of the Knowledge Society of the future supporting a wide-range of communities leveraging ICT infrastructures for complex problem solving to advance research across borders. EUIndiaGrid2 capitalises on the achievements of EUIndiaGrid by acting as a bridge across European and Indian e-infrastructures to foster evolution in these regions and to ensure sustainable scientific, educational and technological collaboration.

 GARR Consortium

The Italian Academic and Research Network

GARR is the Italian Research & Education Network (NREN). It plans and operates the national high-speed telecommunication network for University and Scientific Research. Its shareholders are four major Research and Academic organizations in Italy, CNR, ENEA, INFN and Fondazione CRUI, representing the Conference of Italian University Rectors. NeuGRID has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with GARR that you can find available at MoU.

GEANT

One of the major challenges facing European research and education networking is the disparity between developments in different countries and regions. There is a significant "digital divide", where the networking services available to researchers and students in some countries and regions are far below the level that is common in other parts of Europe. GÉANT includes two strands of work to address this divide:

  • Providing support to the development of research and education networking in the less advanced countries in Europe.
  • Annual reporting on European NRENs' network and service operations to identify and understand trends between countries and developments over time - TERENA Compendium of national research and education networks.

Internet2

Internet2 is an advanced networking consortium led by the U.S. research and education community. A revolutionary-class IP and optical network. Advanced technologies that enable services and achievements beyond the scope of individual institutions. An unparalleled human network to make sure these technologies get spread around where they can do some good.
