N4U Persistency Service to Store Information

N4U Persistency Service to Index Metadata and Store Pipeline Execution Outcomes

The N4U Persistency Service complements the N4U Analysis Base acting as a wrapper for storing information into the Analysis Base and retrieving such information. The Persistency Service provides appropriate interfaces for storing the meta-data of datasets (e.g. ADNI datasets) into the Analysis Base such that those datasets, which are actually stored in their entirety on the N4U Grid infrastructure (or other similar repositories), become indexed in the Analysis Base. This index can then be used by other services for allowing users to define their analysis and carry out relevant queries using these datasets.

The Persistency Service also allows the storage of pipeline execution outcomes e.g. one carried out by a user. Similarly, user-annotated data or knowledge-derived by the user through analysis/data annotation are also stored in the Analysis Base through interfaces provided by the Persistency Service. The following diagram illustrates a functional view of the Persistency Service.

It is not expected that the user will interact directly with the Persistency Service; rather this service will act as a facilitator between other services in the system (e.g. Querying Service, Analysis Services) and the Analysis Base.
